We are a Community Health Center, We are here for everyone.
Who We Are (CHC)
NorthLakes Community Clinic is proud to be a Community Health Center (CHC). We are working to improve the health of our communities. As a Community Health Center, NorthLakes is a non-profit organization (501(c)3) managed by a patient majority board of directors. Community Health Centers provide care to everyone, including those with private insurance, those with Medicaid and Medicare (government insurance), and those without insurance. In addition, Community Health Centers provide comprehensive, integrated, whole person care including medical, dental, behavioral health and prescription services.
As a Community Health Center and National Health Service Corp. we promise to:
- Serve all patients
- Offer discounted fees for patients who qualify (NorthLakes Sliding Fee Scale)
- Not deny services based on a person’s: Race, Color, Sex, National Origin, Disability, Religion, Sexual Orientation, Inability to pay
- Accept insurance, including: Medicaid, Medicare, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
This facility is a member of the National Health Services Corps.
NorthLakes Community Clinic is the result of the merging of North Woods and The Lakes Community Health Centers in 2013. Founded in 1976, North Woods provided medical and dental services from clinics in Minong and Hayward Wisconsin. The Lakes, which was formed in 2008 provided medical, dental, behavioral health and physical therapy services to patients from clinics in Iron River and Ashland Wisconsin.
While each NorthLakes clinic is unique to the community it serves, the expanded organization makes it possible for all clinics to expand services while remaining cost efficient. Today, NorthLakes Community Clinic employs over 350 people in 12 communities and continues to add new services as well as new jobs.
LGBT+ Healthcare Equality Leader
For the fourth year, our Community Health Center has earned the “LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Top Performer” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), the educational arm of the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization. To earn the designation, facilities must train staff in LGBT+ health care, have LGBT+-responsive policies, and disseminate those policies to the public and staff members. We support civil rights and LGBT+ health equality. Our health centers provide responsive, compassionate and respectful care in a welcoming environment.
NorthLakes Community Clinic is proud of its commitment to provide quality health care and related services that are sensitive to the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) communities. Our providers, and staff have the range of experience and expertise to bring health, hope, and peace of mind to our LGBT+ patients, regardless of what issues they may be facing. We don’t judge. We care.
