Iron River Lion’s Club Donates $1,000 to New Ultrasound Machine in Iron River
Iron River, Wisconsin—Did you know infant mortality is 25% higher in rural areas, such as Iron River, than more urban areas? One reason for this disparity is a lack of pre-natal care for a mother during her pregnancy. A new program in Iron River and Ashland is focused on expanding access for expecting moms.
Dr. Jenna Ingersoll and Dr. Deb Dryer, along with their care team, are leading the efforts of pre-natal care in Iron River and Ashland. As part of this expansion, efforts are underway to secure $26,000 for a new UltraSound machine in Iron River. This month, the Iron River Lions Club generously donated $1,000.
Iron River President Chris Olson says the donation signals a shared commitment to reducing barriers to care for our friends and neighbors in the region. “The Lion’s club is proud to support efforts such as NorthLakes Community Clinic’s current campaign because we recognize this service is vital to ensuring expecting moms have access to the care they need and deserve to experience a happy and healthy pregnancy.”
NorthLakes Community Clinic CEO Reba Rice says it is this type of community support that allows NorthLakes to expand access to services. “Our community partners are critical to our success. We are so appreciative of organizations such as the Iron River Lion’s Club for their efforts in improving our communities and we are excited to learn they were supporting our pre-natal program.”
If you are interested in supporting this effort, an anonymous couple from Iron River is currently offering a 1:1 matching donation up to $5,000. If you are interested in supporting the effort, you can make a donation online at nlccwi.org or contact Madeleine Rekemeyer at 651-792-5534 or email@example.com.
