NorthLakes Community Clinic recently received a $98,000 grant from the Public Services Commission of Wisconsin’s Telemedicine’s Universal Service Fund for a new digital x-ray. The x-ray was installed in our recently expanded downtown location.
Installing a digital x-ray machine downtown helps us achieve our mission of expanding access by actively removing barriers to care. Often times, x-ray fees can be cost prohibitive and result in additional travel and appointment if they need to be sought outside of the clinic setting. By bringing this service in-house, we will provide same day reads of x-rays. We will also reduce expensive emergency room visits for our patients by providing timely emergent care readings.
“We are so grateful to the Public Services Commission for their continued support of rural healthcare,” says NorthLakes Community Clinic CEO Reba Rice. “By making these upfront investments in technology, we can streamline patient care which allows for improve health outcomes while also managing overall costs.”
The new Ashland Downtown location will be completely finished in mid-May. Once complete, all NorthLakes Community Clinic patient services in Ashland will be located on the 200 and 300 blocks of west Main Street.
