“Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope” explores the biological impact caused by abuse and neglect, also known as toxic stress, during childhood. It also documents efforts to combat the negative impacts of toxic stress through innovative solutions to help protect children from the long-term effects of toxic stress. Afterwards, NorthLakes Community Clinic Recovery Director Brenda Goettl, CSW, CSAS, ICS, LPC-IT will lead a panel discussion.
Jessica Wagner-Schultz, Director of Institutional Advancement at Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College says the showing of the film is an opportunity to expose the community to the impact Adverse Childhood Experiences may have on our community. “Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College is glad to partner with NorthLakes Community Clinic to bring a screening of Resilience to the College, to engage our student body and larger community in a conversation about how childhood trauma affects future success.”
